One detail:
It isn’t included in any protected area.

What’s so special about it?:
It’s a noteworthy specimen due to its dimensions. This is a relict tree, a magnificent example representing the ancient elm grove which used to demarcate the road. At present, this variety of tree has almost disappeared. It is the stoutest elm tree in the Region of the Altiplano (Jumilla-Yecla) and one of the highest in Yecla.

Description:
It’s a very large elm tree (Ulmus minor) with a trunk diameter of 1,30 metres: 4,05 metres; the tree is about 23 metres high with a maximum crown width of 26,50 metres. At a height of 8 metres some of its main branches grow up from the trunk, although there are other low branches of smaller size. There are three other medium-sized examples. Located next to the roadside asphalt edge of the “Carretera de Almansa”, part of the crown covers the road, as well as the gardens of a house near it.
