One detail:
The term mansio comes from the Latin word mansus, which means “a place to stay the night in order to rest during the travels”; it was the equivalent to an inn or official hostelry located in the Roman road, ran by the “mansionario”.

You can find:
The route of the Roman road (the current Traviesa de Caudete), which would coincide with the one connecting Ad Aras and Ad Palem stopping places (mansio), a communication road connecting Játiva with Cástulo in Jaén.
There are four important rustic villas: Casa de la Ermita, Los Torrejones, Marisparza, Fuente del Pinar and el Pulpillo, in addition of mansio located next to the road.


What’s special about it?:
It was of great importance in the 3rd century B.C., especially since the 2nd century B.C., for the process of Romanization in the inland. For the territory of Yecla, in particular, it served as a stimulus for the agricultural economy.
