What’s so special about it?:

It’s a spring or well of natural recharge of ancient origin and use. Flora (plant species) of interest. Amphibians and reptiles of aquatic habitat can be found in the pond (green frog, common toad, viperine water snake…etc). The reed bed belongs to Cirsio monspessulani Holoschoenetum phytosociological association, classified as a non-priority habitat of Community Interest. (Directive 92/43/EEC).


Description:
It’s a municipal spring, with a watering hole and a pond, in the wider part of a drovers’ road, located in the crossing of la Vereda Real de los Serranos and el Cordel del Pozuelo, in a farming environment. The water flows along an underground passage (a sort of ditch) with a metal door formed by nine shafts or manholes going through cereal crops and reaching a masonry hut approximately 1 metre high. The watering hole is large and it has ashlar stone work. The pond, which has two water inlets, is 27 metres sideways.
